In the creative field it happens to all of us at some point, you sit down to work on a new project and suddenly you are stuck waiting for inspiration to strike, but it never does. It can be extremely frustrating when your mind draws a blank, and almost every one of us has gone through a creative block of sorts in our professional careers.

Creative block is all part of the game, but how do we get ourselves out of it?

Change up your daily routine

Carry a notebook around and write down absolutely everything that comes to mind. Just let your mind go and put pen to paper and see what you can come up with. Write down thoughts, ideas, and sketches for the project you are working on.

Take a break

Do something that takes your mind off the project and what you are trying to achieve. Ideas usually have a way of coming into focus when you are thinking about something completely irrelevant.

Start working on a personal project

Try doing something you are personally invested in and passionate about.  Just a change from your normal routine can be very beneficial to get the creative juices flowing again.

The most important thing we all forget to do is to step away from the computer and work space.  We all spend a lot of time in front of our computers every day. It is very important to spend some time away from your computer when you are thinking of a concept. Go for a walk outside, or even find a change of perspective to get the neurons firing again.

At the end of the day it happens to the best of us, just give it time. Inspiration can be found everywhere around us, you just have to go and find it.
